Talking with Industry Experts

During the 2025 International Technical Conference, NTRO spoke to several keynote speakers to gather their insights into the industry and to dive deeper into their thoughts and experiences surrounding Australia transport challenges.

Jo Evans

Jo was a keynote speaker providing a UK transport perspective - experiences which seem to align strongly with what is being faced in Australia. Jo discusses her presentation with NTRO's Guy Hand in this short video.

Jeroen Weimar

Our keynote speakers have been outstanding at the NTRO International Technical Conference, including the Secretary for Victoria's Department of Transport and Planning Jeroen Weimar who gave a detailed presentation about planning for the future of Victoria and generously did an audience Q&A following. He speaks to NTRO's Guy Hand about his presentation, and the two-way learnings available at a Conference like this.

Gonzalo Alcaraz

In this conversation with NTRO's Guy Hand, Gonzalo discusses key concepts reshaping mobility worldwide - from resilience and autonomous vehicles to electrification and decarbonisation challenges facing the transport sector.

Gemma Tognini

The NTRO International Technical Conference kicked off with a keynote speech, not from a transport specialist, but from social and political commentator and GT Communications founder Gemma Tognini. Gemma, also a columnist for The Australian and regular contributor to Sky News Australia as well as being a successful business owner in her own right, spoke about innovation from a different perspective and challenged the room: What is Australia missing that others are picking up? Gemma spoke to NTRO's Guy Hand after the presentation.

Hon Gabrielle Williams MP

Hon Gabrielle Williams MP speaks with our CEO Michael Caltabiano about the changes happening in transport, and they discusses NTRO's expertise and how the organisation can assist in bringing innovation to support transport's changing landscape.

Wayne Johnson

Wonderful to have ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation) chief executive Wayne Johnson (GAICD) as a panellist on our look at transport agencies of the future on Day 2 of the NTRO International Technical Conference. Wayne debriefed with NTRO CEO Michael Caltabiano after a well received session.

Sally Stannard

A huge thank you to Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads Director General Sally Stannard for her presentation at the NTRO International Technical Conference, and pulling double-duty as guest speaker at the National Transport Research Awards in Melbourne during the evening. In this short video, Sally speaks with NTRO Chief Executive Officer Michael Caltabiano.
