Dr. Jian-Shiuh Chen, a distinguished professor of Civil Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan, has dedicated over three decades to teaching, research, and practice in pavement engineering and materials. With experience at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand and the Federal Highway Administration in the USA, Dr. Chen has authored or co-authored over 200 publications on asphalt science and technology, pavement design, testing, evaluation, production, construction, and performance. As a result, he received an outstanding research award from the National Science Council, Taiwan. He holds a B.S. from NCKU (1984), an M.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology (1990), and a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University (1994). Dr. Chen is also a registered professional engineer in Virginia, USA.
