Yonghong Sun,PHD,is the president of Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport PRC, a senior engineer at the highest professional grade.He has been selected as a member of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Transport, and concurrently serves as a Technical Committee member of the World Road Association (PIARC) as well as the Deputy Director of the Autonomous Driving Working Committee of the China Highway & Transportation Society. Dr. Sun has been mainly engaged in research work in the fields of transportation planning and management, highway engineering, highway network operation and management, and intelligent highways etc. He has successively presided over and completed over 10 major provincial and ministerial-level projects, such as "Deepening the Reform of Toll Roads and Removing the Provincial Boundary Toll Stations on National Expressways".

He has published multiple academic papers, and more than 10 professional works. He has won a number of awards, including the First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Highway & Transportation Society and the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Transportation Association.He has successively been awarded the honorary titles such as "Individual with Outstanding Achievements in Poverty Alleviation in Transportation Nationwide" and "Advanced Individual in Soil and Water Conservation Nationwide".
