Sam Afkar is a Principal Leader in the Safer Smarter Infrastructure team at ARRB/NTRO, where he has worked since 2021, specialising in pavement and road asset management.

Sam has been heavily involved in implementing new technologies, including the development of specifications and technical notes, conducting field trials, and performing data analysis for intelligent construction technologies.

With 24+ years of expertise in operations, modelling, and asset planning, Sam also serves as the Pavement Stream Leader for the NACOE research program in Queensland, Australia, where he contributes to projects aimed at bringing innovative and practical solutions to the road industry.
